Is there a way to pass field values from a Quick Fields original entry to the new entry generated from Quick Fields?

Yep. In the scan settings dialog for Laserfiche Capture Engine, check the option to retrieve fields

Then you can use the original field values as you would any other token, with the format:

%(Field.FieldName)

For example, the original document's value in a field called "Phone Number" would be available using the token %(Field.Phone Number)

Pro-tip: if your original documents are all the same template and you specify a template for the captured documents in the "Retrieve Entries" section of the scan settings dialog, then tokens for the field values from that template will be available in the token picker under "Capture Engine".

However, whether or not they're in the picker, you can still use the original value from any field of any template by just typing out the token syntax manually.

Tessa,

I have been doing some more testing with this. In order to retrieve the field in Quickfields, we have to set some sort of requirement on the field. I do not want to set a requirement on the field in order to retrieve the document. Some documents may or may not have the field value populated depending on scenario. However, we do want to retrieve the field value IF there is a value in the field.

Thank You,

Zach Merrill

What you're looking at in that screenshot is the "Retrieve Entries" section, which, as you observed, is made for adding specific conditions to filter which documents to retrieve. So it sounds like you don't need to check the "Fields" checkbox shown in your screenshot.

You just need to check the one shown in the "Document Content" section that says "Retrieve fields". This will retrieve the existing field value for each field that has a value in the original document.

If something still isn't working as expected, please show the template and fields configuration for your document class and I can help give more specific advice.

Tessa,

I do not see Capture Engine in set of tokens, any reason why it is not appearing please?

Thanks

Priya

You have to choose a template in Capture Engine under "retrieve documents" so Quick Fields can generate the list of fields for Capture Engine tokens. If you don't choose a template, the fields are still available, but you'll have to type them in as %(Field.FIELDNAME).

You also have to check "retrieve field data" under "Document Content" in Capture Engine for the data to be read along the documents from the repository.

Thanks. I did check that. If I type it in, it goes red saying Invalid Syntax

Yes, if you don't have a template selected, the token will be underlined in red because Quick Fields can't validate it. It will work when you scan if you have it in the right format.

It shows up now only for basic retrieval. Is this feature not available when I choose Search for Entries?
