That sounds like a distribution group on your mail server. You need a security group created in your active directory.

can you please be more precise about the security group that needs to be created?

You mentioned creating a group on Exchange. That's the mail server. Your group should be created in your domain.

Hello Miruna,

The group is actually created in my domain. I have used exchange to create the group.

As you can see below from Michelle, the group is still unable to have access to the folder created though i have given them rights from the repository itself.

any idea

Iqbal, you've mentioned twice in response to Miruna that you created the group in Exchange.  The group if created in your domain would be created in Active Directory not Exchange.

Then you would add that group to Laserfiche via the Admin Console, then apply the securities to the folder top down.  So I am working the folder securities and Miruna is making sure you have the correct group setup.

Iqbal, when you went into the Laserfiche Client and assigned the group to the folder, did you check the scope of the group?  Meaning, was the scope limited to 'this folder only' which would preclude access to any of the folders below it?

Hello Michelle,

below is the screenshot

i'm getting <not inherited> when selecting the"show inherited rights"

Is there a way to make it inherited to the"ITL-Live" ?

thanks in advance

Iqbal when you see the <not inherited> it means that you set that group specifically on that folder (i.e. folder B) and that they do not inherit rights from the folder above (i.e. folder A).

If you want the groups to inherit rights down to folder B, you need to apply the groups to folder A with the appropriate access rights and make sure that "Inherit rights from parent and include with specified rights" is checked on folder B.  (Which it looks like it is if you see the ITL-Live inheritance for your ADMIN.)

But the scope of the access must still be configured.  If you want the groups to have access to folder A and all its subfolders and documents so that this inherits down to folder B you need to set the scope to "This folder, subfolders, and documents."

Hope this helps.

Hello Michelle,

As you can see below, it is not inherited from the parent group, however, the users in this group are still unable to see the folder.

though i have given them full rights on the child folder.

Any idea why is not working
