Question

Laserfiche Password expiry doesn't work

asked on August 11, 2016 Show version history

Hi,

Our customer is using LF 10.1.1.254 (server and client) and are using Directory server with Laserfiche user (not AD users).

Password is set to expire every 3 months and when this happens, users get a message stating "your password has expired" when they attempt to login but don't receive a window which allows change of password.

When an admin checks "User must change password at next sign-in" in directory server, the same thing happens.

This is observed in both LF desktop app and LF web client.

If it's a limitation, do you have any plans to fix this inconsistency soon and if it's bug, is there a way to fix it?

Thanks in advance.

Regards,

Adarsh

Actually, I should be corrected:

There are three fixes required to improve this behavior which are being worked on for LF 11: in LFS, in the desktop Client, and in Web Access. At present, using Single Sign-on will support the automatic redirection to the password change page, so using that for Web Access will work as expected.

Otherwise, the workaround until the fixes mentioned above would be to navigate directly to the password change page: https://[LFDSMachineName]/LFDS/[LFDSSiteName]/account and be prompted for the password change there.

Cheers

Thanks to Brianna for setting me straight.

Hi James,

Users are able to reset password using the link.

This is a useful workaround but we would appreciate having a permanent fix soon as LF desktop client is still the preferred way to login for most users at this client place and secondly the specified URL is not available within the login page but needs to be constructed and saved in browser favourites.

Thanks again,

Adarsh

Hi Adarsh,

We appreciate the concern and fixes are in progress. By Laserfiche 11 this behavior should be corrected.
