Question

How to delay a user task?

asked on August 10, 2016 Show version history

I'm working on a Goal Setting and Performance Review in forms version 9.2. Once the goal setting is completed, it saves to repository. After that, I would like the process to "freeze" until a certain date, specified by a date form variable, for the Performance Review. Is there any way I can do this? I've looked at the timer, but it seems to only check if a task has been completed by a certain date, and that's not what I want.

Thank you!

In Forms 9.2, it's called an intermediate timer event. They are described on this page of the Forms 9.2 help files.

You can use a time catch event and set the wait value to Based on Variable.

I apologize if this is a silly question, but what is a time catch event? I don't see anything in the forms workflow with that name, nor did anything come up with a google search.

Ohhh, I just realized that an intermediate timer can stand on its own. I thought it had to be attached to a user task, which is why it wasn't working for me. Thanks guys!
