Question

Multilingual capability for template and field names in search ?

asked on August 10, 2016

We created the metadata using French names for the templates and fields.

When using an English interface in LF client or WebLink, if the user wants to perform a search by template he is presented with the French names. It's not obvious for everyone that "Facture" is an invoice or "Bon de commande" is a purchase order.

is there any way to attach a description to each field and template names, to be presented to the users in their chosen language, rather than displaying the field name directly (which is in my opinion too much IT-oriented) ?

Thanks

Hi Sylvain,

Template and field names are meant to be user-facing items in the repository so they can be used for indexing and search. There is currently no way to have the same field display different names, although you can have the template/field be named something like "Facture / Invoice," or "Bon de commande / Purchase Order" in order to present both options to your users.

Hi Anita

Can we have this item listed in a Feature Request / Wish List ?

Does such a list exist, and can users of LF Answer vote on the items in the list ? That would be a good thing for LF to have such a list if it doesn't yet exist.

I know there is a topic called Ideas, but afaik we cannot vote for things we'd like to see coming to reality.

Thanks
