Laserfiche PDF opening in Acrobat rather than Reader

asked on August 9, 2016

Has anyone had an issue with the Laserfiche Client opening a PDF in Acrobat even though the Windows default associated program is Reader?

Sierra,

I'm not sure if you are wanting the document viewer for Laserfiche, but if you do you can set that by going to 'Tools', then 'Options' in the client, and changing the settings here:

I changed mine to the 'The associated application' setting under 'Open PDF files by default using:' section because I like them to open using Acrobat.  If you want to set it back, you can choose the Laserfiche Document Viewer.

The user would prefer to have it open in Reader. It should be able to since PDFs are defaulted to open in Reader in Windows Control Panel, but for Laserfiche it just opens in Acrobat.

Oh I see, yeah that is strange.  I can even open my pdfs in Word if I want to, I just need to set it to 'The associated application' like above and it gives me this prompt when I try to open it:

If I click that little arrow to the far right hand side of where it says 'other programs' it then allows me to pick any application I want, and if I check the bottom box to always use the selected program it uses it for me as long as it is compatible.

Yes, this is the Windows default file association I was referring to. It's set to Reader but in Laserfiche it opens in Acrobat.

Well if you're talking about Adobe Reader instead of another version of Acrobat, that's the only Reader program I know of, it may be because he has different versions of Adobe Acrobat on his machines.  To open in just Reader you would need to go to reader application, choose 'Preferences' under the Edit tab, click the 'General' option if it isn't already selected, and select that version as the default PDF handler as well.  It is here:
