Question

Quick Fields 10-Setting the output destination folder?

asked on August 8, 2016

Basic Task - set up QF session to go into Laserfiche folders and auto-orient all the scanned pages, then re-file back to same folders and overwrite the original docs.

What I'm finding is that the destination folder is not automatically linked to the chosen source folder.  I can create a new session and declare the source folder and declare the destination folder.  But when I change the source folder from the "Retrieve items from" dropdown, the destination folder is not changed automatically.  I run the session, and the processed documents show up in the document revision pane under the original destination.  I must click on the folder link in the document revision pane, and then go up on the right to the Folder Properties "Store document in" dropdown and browse to the new folder.  From there I can "Store all" into the corrected folder.

Question: isn't there a way that the destination folder can automatically be set to the source folder?

There's a "Path" token when you scan documents with Capture Engine. It's the original location of the document. You can set it as the location in the document class and then set the document class to merge documents with the same name and replace all existing pages.

For details on how to configure newly processed documents to merge with the old ones, see these options in the help files.

Click on the document class in session configuration pane.

Then, in the tasks pane on the right, put the %(Path) token for the storage path.

Now, any documents you scan with this session will have a destination path that is the same folder you retrieved them from.

Thanks Miruna and Tessa for a quick reply and a direct bull's eye.  This will also solve the secondary issue of handling documents in subfolders of the primary folder indicated.  I just confirmed the path variable will handle replacing updated documents into subfolders - just point to the top directory and let it run.   Much appreciated!!
