I'm reading the "Registering and Unregistering Laserfiche Repositories - November 2005" document and it advises that to unregister a repository I will need the system password (i.e. not just a repository login). No one left in the organisation seems to know the password and it does not seem to have been documented. For this reason we have had another service account set up, but we will need to unregister the repository before re-registering it with the new account. Is there a way of doing this if the old password is lost?

Answer
There is no system password anymore in version 9. Local Windows administrators on the Laserfiche Server machine are system managers for the Laserfiche Server and can unregister repositories through the Laserfiche Administration Console.
Great, thanks Miruna, that's a relief.
Another issue that's cropped up though - the database name that comes up under Repository Options / Settings does not exist, but the repository entries' metadata are still available and can be updated. There is a LF database in the expected location but with a different name. Is it possible that the name has been changed but somehow the info via the admin console is still showing the old name but the repository is finding the DB with the new name? I need to move the DB to a new SQL Server. Any ideas on how to check / update the database name on the LF Admin Console?
If the repository is accessible, then the database you're seeing under Repository Options is functional. I can't really tell what you're looking at, but you can have a SQL database whose name does not match the names of its underlying files. Looking at its properties in SQL Server Management Studio can confirm if that's the case here.
It probably best you have your reseller open a case with Tech Support so they can take a look and walk you through any steps that might be needed.
thanks, will do.
