Question

Does Forms always send documents to repository in color?

asked on August 5, 2016

Noticed that my forms all go in as color documents.  Is this a standard with Forms or is there a way to make what goes into the repository B&W to reduce file size?  Advice?

I'm not Ming-lun, but I do something similar to what she is suggesting in one of my forms. In the forms module create an exact copy of the form that the users interact with(click the "Make a copy of this form" button) , and then simply change the theme of that new form to something black and white. Now, go into the process diagram and on the step where you save to your repository change the form it saves to the B&W version. As long as all the variables on the B&W version are the same as the ones on the color versions the information will transfer and save as a B&W version of the form.

Hi Michelle,

By default, the forms that are saved to the repository will retain the themes that you applied in the Forms Designer. If your goal is to save forms in black and white to reduce file size, you can make a copy of the form that you want to save to the repository and change the theme. That way, users can still interact with colored form in form submission and/or user tasks, but the final archived form will be in black and white.

Hope that helps!

Morning, thanks Ming-lun, I understand how to make the copy, but how would I associate the B&W copy with the form that is being completed by the submitter?

Hi Michelle,

When you make a copy of a form, you'd be able to pass all the field variables onto that form. When a submitter fills out a form, the information on that form will get passed onto the copied form and get saved in the repository. How are you associating your current form with the submitter?

Ming-lun,  I'm not sure I follow your suggestion regarding the copied form and the question about associating the current form with the submitter.  Is there an example you could provide?  Thank you.
