My client has an issue where they had a PDF in LF named "EMAIL", and a user imported an email with the same name("EMAIL"), and it deleted the pages of the document, and changed the format from a .pdf to a .msg. The pages are in the recycle bin, but when we restore them they go back to the msg file and re-attach themselves. When we open the document, only the email shows(and in outlook). I tried exporting the pages, but only the email gets exported. Is there a way to get back to original format of the document, and the pages?

You can get to the pages generated from the pdf by right clicking on the document and choosing Open->Pages. You can delete the email portion of the document from Tasks->Delete Electronic File. This sends the edoc portion to the recycle bin and the document will then open to the doc viewer by default instead of Outlook. The original pdf might be lost if it isn't showing up in the recycle bin.

The behavior is controlled by the name conflicts options (Tools\Options\New Documents\Name Conflicts). In this case, they seem to be set to overwrite the existing document. If the PDF is not in the recycle bin, you'd have to restore it from backup.
