8.1.2 to Avante and OS upgrade

We are looking at doing an upgrade of Laserfiche Server 8.1.2 to Laserfiche Avante (10). At the same time, we would like to upgrade the servers OS from 2003 to 2012 R2.

Does anyone have any recommendations for which order to do things in?

1. Migrate the 8.1.2 installation to a Server 2012 R2 server, and then install Laserfiche Avante?

OR

2. Install Laserfiche Avante on the current setup and then migrate the install to a new server?

OR

Some other set of steps that I haven't mentioned?

Hello Tyrell,

I did a similar migration recently.  I got the client to put their old server in to 'read only' mode, migrate the repository and databases to the new server and then I installed Avante 10 and let the wizard upgrade the data.

Moving the repository data was the most time consuming due to the amount of Gigabytes.
