Question

data encryption in transit

asked on July 21, 2016 Show version history

Hi

As per the link below, I understand we can implement data encryption-in-transit in LF. Prior to LF, we are using ADRMS to encrypt and protect the data-in-transit on our file server however I am unclear how this can be implemented in the laserfische.

http://www.peelletech.com/_data/docs/DataSheet-LaserficheSecurity.pdf

Pls. share your ideas, solution if any of you implemented the data encryption-in-transit in LF

Thanks

Kumar

Communication between client applications and the Laserfiche Server can be encrypted using SSL. You can set up the web servers with SSL to encrypt the communication between the user's browser and the web server, and you can set up SSL between the web server and the Laserfiche Server to encrypt communication between them. Similarly, when separate web servers need to communicate with each, for example, Forms and Workflow, SSL can be used as well.

Desktop applications, like the Laserfiche Client, Quick Fields or Workflow Designer, can also communicate with their respective servers over SSL.

Additionally, communication between server products and their respective backend SQL databases can also be secured in the same fashion.

Is it possible to update document properties with metadata called "DMS" . I mean I am looking for a solution where we can update a flag called DMS in the document properties (MS office document formats, PDF, image files like PNG, JPEG, TIFF) so when a document is exported from DMS to a network drive. we wanted to scan the network of files mainly with a flag DMS in the document properties that are being exported from laserfiche .

You would need to write custom code for each file type, but you could probably use Workflow to tag each document as it is brought into Laserfiche.  For images, I would be worried about your tag surviving transformations, like from tiff to PDF.
