Forms - append domain to assigned user

The forms user task does not appear to allow me to enter text with a variable. I am trying to assign the user name from a variable of their domain name and just need to append the domain name as I understand is a requirement.

I don't want to append the domain name on the form and I don't believe alternate values are allowed with forms using database lookups to populate the values.

Is something like this what you're looking for?

 

If it's not a lookup, I generally add the domain to the value so it's usable as a variable in the task.

Oh I guess I could have a hidden field that is the selected user + domain and use that variable. I was thinking even less complex by just appending it in the approver field of the user task but it does not seem to allow me.

Yeah it has to come into the assign part as one variable. I think there's natural separators between variables for how it determines where the name of user1 ends and user2 begins if assigned to multiple people.
