Forms - User Task Terminates Process

asked on July 20, 2016 Show version history

I have a user task which every time it is called it terminates the entire forms process. I don't see any configurations in the user task that could terminate the process.

What configuration is this or what are the defaults for terminating when reaching a user task? I don't want to terminate the process.

I have 1 outflow path that is the default path.

Hi Chad,

Is there a message in the event viewer ?  Perhaps the user it's assigned to isn't able to be identified by the task?  As of Forms 10, I believe these are sectioned down into the Applications portion under LFForms.

Hey Carl,

There was a message there simply saying that a form needed to be selected for the user task. Wish I would have known that sooner, How in the world did that end up in the server event viewer?

I can't even think of what the purpose of a user task with no form is, it just seems to act the same as an End activity but without any explanation.

As far as assiging a task w/o a form, I've done that a few times. Either by deleting the old form without checking the tasks, or setting up the task and forgetting to set the form, to even losing it on an upgrade or minor change.

Why the Forms errors are in the event viewer on the server instead of clearly visible to the process creator in the application? I believe their working on that as it's been a frequent oddity expressed on the forums.

Glad you got it figured it out.

Cheers,

Carl

I can't even imagine how many users even have access to the server event viewer logs, I just happen to have access to this one.

Thanks again!

If you are using Forms 10, you can right click the instance and select View error log to check the error happens when run an instance.

I was not getting that option, but I see now it disappears from the menu once you select the instance for some reason. You have to make sure your in the view of all instances or it just doesn't show up.

Hi Chad, The option should always appear, can you record a video and share when it disappear? Thanks.

Hi David,

The instance may terminate at user task for some unexpected errors, from the screenshot you provided, it is an very old instance. If you don't see "view error log" action from the instances list when select the instance, then there should be error to tell what may be wrong back to that time.  If you want to resume this instance, you can open a support case and provide the backup of  your database, the support team can provide you script to resume it and the user task need to be performed again.
