Date Picker Issue

asked on July 20, 2016

Wondering if anyone else has seen the following issue.  I am on Forms 9.2.  I have had one department have the issue on and off for months but they could never tell me what they were doing when it happened.  I was finally able to recreate it once (but only once) yesterday.

When they open the form, before the put any other information in they click the calendar button to choose a date.  When they click it, July 2016 shows up.  She needed a June date so she clicked the back arrow to go back to June.  When she did that, it went to January 1916.

No dates were typed in first.  The field was empty prior to clicking the calendar button.  This is in IE 11.  I can't have them use Chrome because they print the form and it gets OCR'd in quick fields.  Chrome throws the margins way out of whack and the OCR can't pull the needed information.

And before anyone recommends upgrading to 10 or 10.1, that is in future plans for use since we have to build new servers before we can upgrade.

Since the upgrade is at least a couple months off, any suggestions on fixing - getting around this issue would be helpful.  My customers are getting pretty frustrated.

The second screenshot shows what appeared after my customer picked the 30th not realizing it went back to 1916.  I did not get a screenshot the one time I was able to recreate it but the calendar itself did show 1916, it didn't show 2016 but put 1916 when you pick a date.

Thanks!

Hi Jennifer,

I can reproduce this in Forms 9.2.1.1088 and in fact also in version 10.1.0.575. It seems that this happens only when double-clicking on the icon to open the datepicker UI. When double-clicking:

  • If using the arrows to scroll months, the month displayed will jump to January 1916.
  • If selecting a year other than the currently selected one, the month displayed will jump to December of the year before it. For example, choosing "2025" for the year results in the month displayed to be "December 2024".
  • Choosing an individual day of the month works as expected relative to the month displayed; in particular, when opening by double-click and choosing a day in the currently selected month, the right day will be chosen.
  • Once one of the above is done, the UI will resume working as expected. (i.e. using the arrows will correctly scroll months, and choosing a year will only change the year)
  • The above behavior occurs whether there is a value for the date field or not, and independently of this value if there is one.

None of the misbehaviors seem to occur if the UI is opened with a single-click instead of a double-click. I've filed SCR 146984 for the development team to be alerted to this.

Thanks for bringing it to our attention!

Thanks.  I wonder if it is sensitive to clicks because I didn't think we were double-clicking.  This is great information and I will pass it to my customer.
