Feature query: update to current version for offline files

asked on July 19, 2016

Hi,

Is there any functionality/planned functionality for updating files that have been downloaded for offline access in the mobile app to the latest version in the repository?  A scenario is where rural engineers need to reference technical instructions when working in areas with no coverage.  When in the office/online they download the instruction documents to the Offline "From Laserfiche" folder in the mobile app and reference them when working on remote jobs.  Meanwhile, back in the office someone updates the instruction document(s) and saves it as a new version, but unless the specific engineers who use those instructions are notified to manually remove the offline copy and download the latest version, their reference version is out of date and potentially wrong.

Thanks,

Mike

That's a good idea and we'll put it on our list!

Question though, do you prefer engineers to sync when they want to, or it's better to have it auto-synced whenever it's connected to the Laserfiche server?

Just wondering if there might be any case where engineer doesn't want to update his offline document yet so that he can finish his current task with the old version doc somehow.

Hi Julia,

In our scenario auto-sync would be best as being a technical instructions document any version changes could be to remove/replace incorrect instructions for the maintenance or repair of expensive or system critical equipment so it would be best that sync happened as soon as the engineer was back online.

Thanks!

Hi Julia,

Is this functionality still to be developed?  I have a need for this, basically, the same reason that Mike has above.

Cheers

Hi,

We, too would like to have a way to sync folders. Having plans available when doing inspections at sites with no coverage. We're currently downloading folders, reviewing plans, deleting those folders and downloading the latest versions before the next inspection. It's very slow and very time consuming.
