Laserfiche FCC 7.2

Hi

In services i see Laserfiche FCC 7.2 that is not even started just sitting there yet LF seems to be working fine. Looking at this i found out that it is a Firewall Compatibility Component.  Can't find any more information on this. Could someone please tell me what is the purpose of this and do we really need this or its for legacy clients. 

Does it have any effect on the security?

See the help file. It doesn't need to run unless you're trying to connect with version 6 or 7 client applications from a different machine than the LF Server.
