Workflow instance doesn't show change made to workflow.

Hello,

 

We have a client that had a workflow sending automated emails. They've decided they don't want these automated emails anymore. We removed the activity from the workflow, but there are instances of this particular workflow already running. When I removed the email activity, I clicked "Yes" when prompted about updating current instances of this workflow. However, when I look at a current instance, the email activity is still there. Is there a way to remove that activity for workflows currently running?

It really depends where in the flow path it is. When you apply changes to a running instance, only the activities after the currently running one will update. The "currently running" activity would include anything inside a conditional decision or wait condition or For Each loop if that's where the instance is currently.

The activity will still appear in the Workflow Designer for your active workflows, but it shouldn't run.
