Question

Is there a way to make the Connector not search until a field is filled(not empty)?

asked on July 6, 2016 Show version history

I am using the Connector to search a Laserfiche Repository based on a field in a Laserfiche Form. However when you first open the form the Connector does a search and comes back with an incorrect result. Is there a way to make the search wait until a field is no longer empty before doing the search or to not search until the refresh arrow is clicked?

Performing the search automatically when the form is opened is an option that would have been configured in the profile. If you create a profile with that off, then it won't search until you manually launch it.

You can either create a new profile with that option unchecked, or update your existing profile to set background=false, as discussed here: https://www.laserfiche.com/support/webhelp/Laserfiche/10/en-US/administration/#../Subsystems/Connector/Content/Editing-XML-Profiles.htm#Automaticallyrunthesearchandshowthesearchcount

Hi Darrell,

Displaying the search hit directly in the external application (Forms, in this case) is currently tied to running the search automatically on load. I don't believe there is a way to get one without the other.

Thank you sir. I will deal with it the way it currently is. Can that option be added in a future release?

I'll follow up with the team about it. It sounds like your main goal would really be to have a way to delay the auto-search until you enter a value in specific field and then leave that field?

Correct. I want to be able to have it wait to search until a field is filled then have it display number of entries found without automatically opening the Laserfiche client, webaccess or weblink to do the search.

Alright, I'll pass this along to the team and we'll see if it works to include it. Thanks!

Thank you Justin. The only issue I have is that I still want it to show the number of found entries and not automatically open Laserfiche to do the search. Is that possible?
