Drag and drop not working for emails

asked on June 30, 2016 Show version history

My client is on web access 10.1 and they are running into an issue where they are not able to drag emails and email attachments into web access. Dragging and dropping with normal PDFs and files work fine, but if they are coming from outlook it has a black no symbol and it will not let you place it in the window. My clients say they were able to before, but I haven't been able to find the setting that would re-enable that.

Drag and drop from Outlook requires additional, browser-specific handling from Web Access, so that might explain why some users see the issue and some do not.

What browsers are your users using?

Hmm... its working for me. Are they dragging into the right pane? Do they have write access to that folder? Have you tried other browsers as well. Is it happening for all users?

Yes, they are dragging into the right pane, and they do have access to the folder since they can drag normal files from the desktop into it, but if they drag from outlook it gives the no symbol. And so far 2 users out of 4 have reported issues.

This is a Windows issue and not a Laserfiche issue.  I've experienced this a couple of times, always seemingly with Outlook and Laserfiche in trying to drag attachments across.  Click-and-drag somehow gets disabled.  This worked for me in Windows 7:

Open up Explorer.  Left-Click a file, any file.  Keep the Left-Mouse button held down.  Hit ESC on the keyboard.  This should re-enable drag-and-drop.

EDIT:  this fixed it for me when I was using Client 8.3 and 9.2.  I don't have Web Access setup, and have not tested this method with it.

Looks like in this case, their web access extension was disabled, and once I re-enabled it it worked again. Thanks for all your suggestions!
