Missing Field Information

asked on June 28, 2016 Show version history

I've completed all of the necessary fields in my template in Universal Capture and when I split the document, some of the field values disappear for the next document.  I would like everything to stay the same unless I change it as I split documents.  Any thoughts?

Here is how I fixed our issue.  In the Admin Console, I selected the template that seemed to be giving me the issue and under the Field Groups tab I assigned the field names that were populated to the same group.  Ex. I have the Field Names of "Last Name" and "First Name" listed.  I assigned both of them to "Group 1" under the Group column.  After I did this I haven't had any additional issues.

Elleah, Universal Capture is just a scan engine, are you using it in Laserfiche Scanning or Quick Fields? Do you know what version of the software you're using? You can check that under Help\About.

Are the disappearing fields dynamic fields?

I am using it in Laserfiche Scanning and the version of the Laserfiche Scanning software is 9.2.1.562.  The fields that are disappearing after splitting documents are not dynamic fields.  They are a text type of field that is required and allows multiples entries.

The dynamic field that I have in that template seems fine in Laserfiche Scanning, but often times after it is stored to the repository the document type disappears in the metadata which causes a naming issue for those documents.

We are now having a similar but separate issue in Laserfiche versions:

Laserfiche Client 10.2 (10.2.1.998)
Scanning Module 10.2.1.973

When a user scans images then sets common metadata, including dynamic fields, and splits the document, the metadata for the child dynamic field disappears and the drop-down list is blank. It's as if the metadata field in Laserfiche Scanning can't access the external table.

As a workaround, selecting a different category (the parent field for the dynamic fields) then selecting the correct category, prompts the values to populate in the document type (child field) field again.

Could you please elaborate on "some of the field values".

Which fields are empty and which are not. Any difference between them in terms of their value from token.

Technically when document is split, if field value is being assigned from token on a page that is not part of new document then it would be empty.

I am having this same issue in Laserfiche Scanning for version 10.1.1.320. The user scans an entire file then sets the metadata and splits the scanned images into different documents. A metadata field (text, multi-value field) with a defined value, not a token, is occasionally disappearing when the user splits the documents.

We determined that it happens when the user tabs through the metadata fields to change pertinent details on the next document. We also tested documents with a different template and noticed that the disappearing field happened to be the third field on both templates. It is a dynamic field, however, on the second template tested.
