To perhaps clarify the above comments, the point is that you don't need to OCR them, since the system already knows the text - it's automatically searchable as Katie notes without needing to do any additional processing. 

Yes, it is. You can also use advanced search to look for text in sticky notes, callout text, comments, and text boxes for more complicated seraches.
