Question

Files moved

asked on June 23, 2016

Hi

Is there a way to see where a user moved files too in LF?  I had a user state that some files were moved and I can't find them by last modified as the file didn't change just the location.  I did look at our audit log and it wasn't enabled to capture that.  :(

Thanks,

Jen

You could search for it in the repository. For that there are couple of options.

if you know the name of the file.

of any text those file might contain.

or search by user.

Please let us know if this worked for you.

Thank you for your response.  The issue is I don't know what the file names that were moved.  Since nothing changed on the document itself LF does not show that a modification was made.

Moving files is not a modification on the file themselves. But it is a modification on the destination folder. So you might be able to find them that way.

Your best solution would be Audit Trail though.

Audit Trail has Move Entry under the Entry filters, did you try using that ? You will need to however know lots of other parameters like when was it likely moved, and possibly the user who might have moved it so you can create that custom report.

There is move pages option as well on audit trial under "Page" option.  But the best option is to keep searching for it possibly by the name of the file as suggested above.

Good feature to have to be frank that if LF can track and search by what was "moved" :p.
