Question

Forms Authentication

asked on June 21, 2016 Show version history

Dears,

in version 9.2 Laserfiche Forms can only be associated with one repository since Forms uses the repository to find the list of named users that will be able to sign in to Forms.

still this  the same for version 10.1? Can Laserfiche forms 10.1 find the users directly from the RIO Directory server, specially the windows account users and directory server users?

Thanks,

Yes, Forms 10 can use global Laserfiche users and Windows users through Laserfiche Directory Service.

By using this feature in 10.1, does it help with multiple domain enviorments?

Hi Miruna,

Thanks for your reply.

Since I don't have LF Forms in RIO VARKIT License to test, could you confirm one more thing:

Directory server users do not need to be created in the LF repository to allow them login to forms, right? for example, if I have one LF server with multiple repositories, It is enough for me to create the directory users in the directory server and synchronize with LF forms without the need to create the licensed users in the repository which is allocated to the forms server in the configuration page.

Dory

Thanks,

Dory

Yes, global Laserfiche users can be created in Laserfiche Directory Service and can be granted access to multiple repositories similar to Windows users.

My question is different:

if global Laserfiche users are created in Laserfiche Directory Service and are not granted access to a repository, then, can these users login to forms? or it is mandatory to grant them access to a repository and link the repository to form to synch the users with the form?

When use LFDS as authentication, you no longer need to configure a repository for Forms to authenticate with instead you configure the Laserfiche Directory Server database and Forms synchronize accounts from Laserfiche Directory Server database directly.

So you just need to create the users in Laserfiche Directory Server and no need to grant access to a repository

As Xiuhong says, global users are no longer tied to the repository. They still need a full named user license to access Forms. One thing to be aware of is that if these users have no access to any repositories, they may not be able to use Save to Repository tasks when they design processes.

Clear. regarding the Save to repository, we can use Save to Repository service task in Forms with different profile to save in any reposiotry.
