Question

Quick Fields - Append Token Value

asked on June 20, 2016

I have a customer who is trying to append to a multi-value token when a certain condition has been met. The condition is working perfectly and the Processing Information pane indicates that the value has been appended, however when we look at the field that the multi-value token is being applied to, it is empty.

I've read on a previous answers post that the token needs to be created in pre-classification, which I've done, but I'm still not having any luck with it.

1. Token process in Pre-Classification

2. Multi-value token created with initial value of 'Test'.

3. Token process in Post Processing. Append value of 'Tuesday' to multi-value token.

4. Output shows condition was met, and value has been appended.

5. Apply multi-value token to field.

6. Only value that appears is the original test value. If there is more than one value manually entered at token creation, they all show here.

Has anyone else come across this before or can perhaps point me in the right direction?

Hi Ronald,

Try moving the 2nd Append Token Value, the one that appends value(s) to the multi-value token previously created in Pre-Classification Processing, from Post-Processing to Page Processing, then map the multi-value token to the multi-value field. You should be able to see the appended values using the Document Revision pane. Let me know if that works for you. Thanks!

Hi,

Thanks for the reply but unfortunately the behaviour is still the same - the conditions are satisfied and the Processing Pane indicated the value has been appended, however it does not appear in the document revision pane.

Tokens are are per page. If you want to collect them across pages of a document, you need to use a Token Accumulator process.

Hi Miruna,

Thanks for the info. I'm already using a token accumulator to add up the values across all pages, then, if the total is greater than 0 for any of the, I'm looking to add the value (day) into a multi-value token. Is there any other way to do this within Quick Fields?

Thanks in advance :)
