Question

Where do LF From Users synchronize from

asked on June 20, 2016

I would like to confirm where the cf_users table in the Forms database populates it users from?

We are in the process of doing Domain name changes on the network and as a test we Migrated only one user account (mine) to the new Domain that will be used going forward. On LFDS, I was able to add the new Account that is pulled from the new DC and all the information seems to be present. See screenshot below:

the user account is also present on Forms after Synchronizing, but the information does not seem correct and there is information like the email address missing:

Previously the account setting looked like this:

This will have an impact on Forms processes and information populated on our forms.

The AD administrator has confirmed that the Account migration from the one domain to the new one was successful and that all the "User properties" are present in the new Domain.

Therefor I need to try and understand why the Account info is now different and where it pulls the Name and Email fields from.

For Windows user, Forms retrieve the name and email for active directory.

What version of Forms are you using? Did you set the "Active Directory domain controller" on Forms Configuration site before synchronization?

Hi Xiuhong,

thank you for the feedback, no I did not change the one that is there. But this raises another question, can one specify more than one Active directory server to sync from?

For the moment we have the one Server specified, but seeing as I have moved domains, I'm on a new Active Directory server while the rest are still on the old.

So going forward, we will have a multi tenant environment in a single forest, so the question then would be how do we make sure the information for the users of the different domains authenticating against a single Forms server will still pull through correctly?

Hi Vincent, Forms currently doesn't support synchronize users from multiple domains, we are doing research for how to support multiple domains.

Forms 10.2 now supports synchronize mail and display name from multiple domains, you can configure multiple domains in Active Directory domain controller:

I had a similar issue recently. i believe they are being fetched from [Forms] email attributes in admin console.

you can also look for some more information on attribute tab here

Hi Junaid, only for Laserfiche named users, Forms fetches the email from [Forms]email attributes. For domain users, Forms fetches from active directory.
