Question

Attach LF Document to LF Forms

asked on August 13, 2015

Dears,

we have a strong need where users needs to attach Laserfiche Documents by browsing from Laserfiche repository.

unfortunately, the current Laserfiche forms does not support this need.

How possible to do this by SDK from LF Forms?

Thanks,

Dory

I'll +1 that request. We have a client who specifically wants to attach sales quotes and supporting documentation to a forms purchase order process and these documents are generally stored in Laserfiche already. Currently the workaround is to export the document from Laserfiche onto their desktop and attach it that way which seems unnecessary.

Several recent prospects also have commented that is seems odd how you can't attach a document from Laserfiche to a process so I think there is a definite benefit in including this feature.

Both of these use cases are huge in the engineering world as well!

We have this same use case, but for Accounts Payable Shared Services Centers, where a form with many supporting documents must be sent for approval and processing.

Supporting documents are invoices, purchase orders, receipts, etc - which are already stored and indexed in the LF repository previously, before the form process is initiated.

Hi Dory,

Thank you for bringing this to our attention. This is not currently possible out-of-the-box or with the SDK because Forms was designed to capture information to bring it into a repository.

Do you have a use case? If so, I could pass it on to our development team for consideration in a future release and we could explore some workarounds.

Hello,

Yes fro sure-in construction, the whole communication between the contracting companies and the consultants is always by submitals and transmitals forms. as for example, one of the form is called Shop Drawing Form (This is the case of any construction company). The contractor fill in the form and needs to attach many documents such as DWG files, Bill of Quantity, etc... all in one form with their metadata information in  table. There should be a possible way to attach many documents from an E-form as links to web access at least, and also another option which is  a user select many documents from Laserfiche and launch Laserfiche Form with webacccess links to each document.

is the last option I provided supported by Laserfiche 10?

Thanks,

Dory Mina

Hi Andres,

We solved our case by adding webclient (Webaccess) as I-Frame to the Forms and then we developed J-Query which access the API of the webclient .it has been successfully achieved by selecting documents and adding them as Webclient Links to the Forms.

Thanks,

Dory Mina

Hi Dory Mina,

We are having this need to attach files found in WebClient to the Form.

Can you guide  us a littke more on how to develop it? We appreciate any news.
