Question

Entry ID not recorded in Audit Trail for printed items

asked on April 9, 2015

I have a customer that is using Audit Trail. They are licensed for Advanced Audit Trail and when looking up documents that have been printed it brings up the data though there is not Entry ID or document name associated with it. Is this normal?

You'll also need to re-import the audit data into the audit database after having upgraded to Audit Trail 9.2. The easiest way to do that is to just delete the audit database and then recreate it by going through the database and date range configurations in the Audit Trail Configuration site. There was an issue in Audit Trail 9.1 where if "Reasons" were configured for export/print events, then Audit Trail 9.1 wasn't able to completely import the entry data for those events. Once this occurred, upgrading to Audit Trail 9.2 won't fix it as the issue was directly caused by the audit data being imported into the Audit database in Audit Trail 9.1.

Hi Cristobal,

I'm trying to understand your question. Does it mean that before a document is printed, it has an associated Entry ID. Then upon printing, it loses that ID?

What version of the Laserfiche Server and Audit Trail are being used? How is the audit report being built? I'm testing in 9.2.1 and just have a report that is only looking at "Print Document" events with no other filters and this is what I see:

Note that if the customer is using Audit Trail 9.1 then please have them upgrade to Audit Trail 9.2. You'll also need to re-import the audit data into the audit database. Alex I tested this out on my end as well and the entry data was recorded. On the customers end the Entry ID, Full Path, Entry Name and other items are missing. The only thing that comes up is the Event Type, Event Time, Succeeded?, Application Name, and a few other items. I have checked under the everyone group for auditing and everything was checked off correctly. Would you happen to have any ideas as to why no data was recorded for those logs? The current version that is being used is 9.0.2.728

Is Audit Trail 9.2 compatible with the previous server version of Laserfiche or will the entire server and other applications need to be upgraded?

Audit Trail 9.2 is compatible with Server 9.1.

Hi,

Anyone know how to upgrade just the Audit Trail from 9.1 to 9.2 without upgrading the LF Server component?

You can update the reporter by installing it through the Lf Server installation on a different machine - you cannot install both the 9.1 Server and 9.2 Audit Reporter on the same machine.

Note that this is just the reporter, the actual mechanism for performing the audits is in the Server itself, so that will match the Server version.
