Feature Request: Windows 8.1 Universal App

asked on October 13, 2014

I haven't seen an official request for this on Answers, so I figured I would post it. It would be great if there was a Windows 8.1 Universal App for Laserfiche and Forms.

Hi, Blake,

For the request of Windows Universal App, will you and your users be using it mostly on phone or tablet, or PC?

And do you have an estimation how many users will be using it on a daily basis on those platforms?

If it'll be used on PC, how do you envision it better than access Laserfiche via browser (WA and Forms), which actually has the full features available?

We'd always love to get more ideas how our users will be using them to streamline the mobile portal for accessing Laserfiche on different platform. Thank you for all the input!

Julia,

Laserfiche Mobile

For us, I see it being used mainly on Windows Phone devices and 2-in-1's such as Surface. Knowing that Windows 10 is in the works for sometime in 2015, they have mentioned that the best way to prepare an app for Windows 10 is to make it a Universal App.

For normal sized PC's, I would imagine a user would prefer to use a browser and not an app because of the functionality advantage, but for smaller devices it seems to be easier with an app.

We currently only have a small number of Windows 8 users, but the main change will come when Windows 10 is released and support for windows 7 starts being dropped.

I see a Windows Phone app has been added to the Roadmap. Will this just be a Windows Phone app or will it be a universal app?
