SharePoint WebPart gives message "an error has occurred while rendering contents for repository 'repositoryname' on 'servername': Permission denied

asked on July 17, 2014

SharePoint WebPart gives message "an error has occurred while rendering contents for repository 'repositoryname' on 'servername': Permission denied.

The error occurs when a user goes to the site from a client computer.

The web part works just fine if we are browsing the SharePoint site content directly from the SharePoint server console.

WebAccess works just fine when access it from any computer

Notes about setup:

WebAccess 9.1.1 is installed on the Laserfiche Server

Sharepoint 2010 is on its own server.

Laserfiche Server version 9.1.1 SP 1

Sharepoint Integration 8.1 for SP2010 is installed on the SharePoint server.

This is most likely an issue with Kerberos not being configured properly for the SharePoint site. You can refer to this page for more information. Also make sure that the actual SharePoint web application being used is configured to use Kerberos instead of NTLM.

Note that the white paper Brianna linked to has information about making sure that the Laserfiche Server SPNs are properly registered. However, the web part configuration and search configuration aren't quite the same in terms of getting Kerberos configured for those aspects.

The fact that you can access the web part from the SharePoint Server machine indicates an issue with Kerberos. Did you follow all the steps listed in the Configuring Kerberos for the Laserfiche SharePint Integration white paper?
