Question

Named User - Name change does not appear in Client/Web Access

asked on June 18, 2014

We changed the name of a named user in the Admin console. Now in the client when this named user creates a new document, the folder browser shows 'created by' and 'last modified by' as the previous version of the name of the named user. However, if I right-click the document, and view properties, the correct version of the name of the named user appears. Also, if I search for this newly created document using the User search, I only receive results when using the previous version of the name of the named user. Finally, Audit Trail shows the correct version of the name of the named user for the document.

IE. Named user: Joe became Bob

Bob created a document

For that document:

  1. Folder Browser: see columns created by and last modified by Joe
  2. Search (User): 0 results for Bob, 1 result for Joe
  3. Document Properties: created by Bob
  4. Audit Trail: created by Bob

This issue was fixed in the Laserfiche 9.2.0 release. Is there still a problem in 9.2?

Hey Alex, That is correct they are seeing this issue in 9.2.

Thanks,

The above issue was only meant to address Laserfiche repository users. Your scenario is in reference to a change involving Windows accounts. Can you confirm that the domain account is the same, i.e. the SID is the same, and only the user name got changed in AD?

If the account is the same, then what you can do is query the database and see if the old account name needs to be removed from the table that caches SIDs and names.

delete from account_cache where account_name='bucees\kim.harris'

Then restart the Laserfiche Server service and see if that clears things up. Remember to backup the database first before making any manual modifications.

We have a client who changed a users name from Kim to Krista. In the Created By column it is still listing Kim instead of Krista. Is this bug still active? If so when is it on slate to be fixed?

Thanks,

We also have a client with this bug. What causes it?

The Laserfiche Server caches user SIDs and account names in a table in the database. When the account name changes, the data that is cached in the table wasn't getting updated. This should be fixed in Laserfiche 9.2. If you're on this version but are still seeing the old account name instead of the new account name, then please follow the step mentioned previously about manually deleting the row of data for the old account name and restarting the Laserfiche Server service. Also, please make sure to backup the database before making any manual modifications.
