Agenda Manager support in the future

In reviewing the Release Notes of the latest version of Agenda Manager (v8.0.2), I have noticed that the product has not been updated since 2012.  Will Agenda Manager continue to remain a vital product for Laserfiche going forward, or are there plans to cease support and development of the software?

 

Agenda Manager functionality meets the requirements for a customer of ours so we just want to make sure Laserfiche has plans to continue supporting the software in the future to work with the latest OS', browsers and MS Office before we fully recommend it.

Hi Travis,

 

From what I understand, there hasn't been any new development work done with Agenda Manager recently nor is there any updates coming for it in the near future. Any updates I've seen so far are generally to make sure that it is still compatible with the newer versions of Laserfiche software. Much of the functionality of Agenda Manager can now be handled with Workflow and Forms. I would recommend those over Agenda Manager.

Thanks Alan.  I recognize that Forms and Workflow are quite robust with the ability to flesh out complex solutions, but I also try to avoid re-inventing the wheel when it's not required.  There is also functionality with Agenda Manager that cannot be accomplished with Forms and Workflow without scripting (such as publishing a word document with uploaded agenda items).

 

Even though there are no current plans on future development for Agenda Manager (as in releasing a version 9), will Laserfiche stay committed to making sure the product will continue to function with the latest versions of browsers, operating systems and Laserfiche itself?  What about existing Agenda Manager customers - will they be required to develop their own solution with Forms and Workflow in the near future?

Hey Travis,

 

We are not actively working on Agenda Manager, but neither have we cut off support for it. We are still collecting feedback about the product (related to compatibility, features, etc.), though we don’t currently have a timeline for a release.

I have a customer that just purchased Agenda Manager.  It is a good simple product to use.  It is also very affordable. However, even though we are using word 2007 for the add-on and to publish, a lot of the attachments coming through are generated from office 2013.  The agenda will not publish because of these attachments. The customer had been patient up to this point but now is getting very frustrated. I just had one of my AM customers drop agenda manager because of its incompatibility. The lack of updates to this product is causing us issues with some long and short term customers.

 

If nothing else at least make it compatible with the latest version of Office.

The roadmap was just updated and it lists Agenda Manager 9 for Q1 2015 with the following description (please note that what is actually released may be different).

 

"Laserfiche Agenda Manager is an agenda automation tool that simplifies processes from item submission through publication of the final document. Laserfiche Agenda Manager 9 will be updated to support Microsoft Windows 7 and Microsoft Office 2013."

It is still scheduled for Q1 2015.
