Question

File location for snapshot printer profiles

asked on January 29, 2014

After upgrading to 9.1 users with existing Laserfiche Snaphot Printer Profiles are unable to print using the Snapshot Printer. If they did not have an existing profile the printer works fine. Is there a file location where we can delete the existing profiles?

That's odd, I don't think I've run into that issue before with 9.1. I'll definitely check it out to see if there's something that needs to be addressed there. Meanwhile you can open up the Laserfiche Snapshot Configuration and go to the Advanced tab. You should be able to delete existing profiles from there. I've attached a photo to help clarify.

The problem may be connected to an issue we were seeing after upgrading Snapshot. We noticed that after the upgrade there was not a default selection for "Save to Repository" or "Export to directory". So neither of those options were selected. We had to go into the Snapshot Configuration on each machine and set one of those two options.

You may see if that option is set for your users.

Thank you for the replies. I tried to delete the profiles from the snapshot configuration and I was unable to delete the default profile. I tried editing the default profile and I tried adding a new profile and it seemed like the settings would not "stick" and that they did not resolve the issue. Also I tried logging into the repository through the snapshot configuration as a different windows user to see if it was a permissions issue but the login failed every time. (not an issue just thought it could be helpful for trouble shooting. It seems like we are only able to print using the LF snapshot printer if there was never a profile set up. I was hoping the profiles were stored in a file in the users appdata folder and could be easily deleted.

Blake, I tried setting the repository but it still did not work and the repository settings would not save. it kept defaulting back to the original saved profile.

You may try uninstalling Snapshot on the one machine and reinstalling it to see if it works after that. If it's happening to multiple users, you would still have another machine to troubleshoot with if that works.

Thank you for the suggestion to uninstall and reinstall. unfortunately that did not work. I did notice that the profile settings are saving so I was wrong on that. I still think I am going to need to delete the old profiles completely so that it can generate a new one from scratch. I ended up rolling a bunch of users back to 9.03 because the 9.1 client was unresponsive and the snapshot printer works. I tested 3 users that were not able to print to laserfiche with 9.1 can now print with using 9.03 again.

If this is still an issue, can you open a case with your VAR so we can look into it further?
