The only way I can think of doing this, though not recommended, is with Quick Fields Agent, you set up a session to generate pages and text from a pdf and have it not retain the electronic file.

This is likely not the best thing to do as you may want to keep the original version, but in this situation it would at least work to accomplish the goal. The best way would be to generate pages and searchable text on the document and create this as a new file and the original go to some location where you store the originals.

There is no need to not retain the original if going the QF Agent route. And the pages can be appended to the original.

(Note that QF and QFAgent are not part of Forms and would need to be purchased separately.)

Miruna,

I understand their is no need to not retain the originals, but I only suggested that because they specifically asked for .tiff files and not .pdf files with .tiff pages associated with them.

But this would be the best type of automated solution currently, yes?

Kenneth,

Quick Fields and Quick Fields Agent is one of the possible solutions. Proposing a solution needs a more detailed discussion about the volume of documents that will be coming in and what they intend to do with the pages and so on. If we're only talking about a few PDFs a month, then QF and QFAgent would be very expensive. Even if we're talking about higher volumes of documents, if the only goal is to make them searcheable, then installing a PDF IFilter on the search engine machine will accomplish the same goal.

That's why I only answered the question and left it up to Jessica to expand on their needs.

Jessica,

If there is a strong enough requirement, there is potential to automate the conversion  programmatically.
