LF mobile Off-line Table access

posted on April 16

Hello Laserfiche Team,

I have been working a lot with LF mobile and offline Forms. My use case requires offline Forms because my users are in the woods with limited cell coverage. I have been battling the lookup rules behaviors. I can fill out a form online and it works great, as soon as I try the offline version, it stops working. I think it has something to do with the way the data is stored locally on the device.
What I'm looking for is a better way to troubleshoot these issues. Right now there is no visibility to what data is exactly stored on the mobile device, and there is no way to see the statement that is running for the lookup rule. I'm troubleshooting these issues with test forms and turning off my field rules that hide values and honestly, brute force testing.
I would love a better debug mode in LF mobile. Something that would allow an Admin access to the offline table to visually validate the data, and access to the exact statement that is run for lookup rules and what values are used. This would make troubleshooting these errors much easier.
The ONLINE version of these forms is very forgiving to datatype mismatches. The OFFLINE version is not and I would love to make this easier for my future project. The offline mode for LF Forms is an amazing feature that is allowing me to leverage Laserfiche as a solution in my organization, I would like to keep developing more of these.
Please let me know what you think and if this could be added to a feature request list.

Have you already set up offline lookup tables? If you haven't already, you would need to. How do I setup offline database in mobile - Laserfiche Answers

Yes, I have set up offline tables. As I said, I have worked extensively with this use case of mine. I can get it to work.
I have a test form I build that behaves differently when completely online vs. offline. That's why I feel like having some more debugging options in the app itself would be valuable. I even tried the modern form design the first time and had even more issues with lookup rules so I'm exclusively using the classic designer for this process.
Being able to see the exact query that runs for these lookup rules would be valuable as well as seeing the data that exists in the mobile app. I have already proved that there are small data conventions that exist when syncing my offline tables. For example, a decimal field in my online table is a 2,0 and when that value is populated in my offline form, it becomes a 2,1.
