Question

Downloads Missing from KB articles

asked on December 7, 2022

Hi All,

This has been getting progressively worse over the past couple of years, so bit of a rant here I'm afraid.

I'm trying to apply the latest and greatest hotfixes onto a customers server, and trying to collate all this information together is quite frankly....painful, if not impossible.

The 'go to' place used to be this KB article:-

https://support.laserfiche.com/kb/1012113/current-release-versions-of-laserfiche-products-and-associated-service-pack-or-hotfix-releases

However this doesn't seem to be updated very regularly these days.

I've found this KB article which is the closest thing I can find for all updates to LF 11:-

https://support.laserfiche.com/kb/1014263/software-versions-and-fixes-included-in-the-laserfiche-11-download-package

But then most of the patches/hotfixes in this KB aren't mentioned in the first 'go to' article, so I'm manually trying to piece everything together.

Taking the latest hotfixes in date order form the 2nd KB article, it then seems that the downloads are missing from some of the KB articles to apply those fixes. Specifically:-

https://support.laserfiche.com/kb/1014374/list-of-changes-for-directory-server-11-update-2

&

https://support.laserfiche.com/kb/1014396/list-of-changes-for-workflow-11-update-2

Can this be tidied up or centralised in some way, along with adding the missing downloads?

Cheers!

Chris Douglas

The updates to Directory Server and Workflow are not patches. They are full upgrades and the installers are included in the download packages.

Where we can release patches, they are included in the full download package and published as individual KBs.

As for your question of applying patches to an existing system, applying the newest patch should be enough as they are expected to be cumulative. Patches for a given product are in the Updates subfolder in the corresponding product's folder in the download.

Just to provide an overall update on this. I've applied some of the LF11 hotfixes via the downloadable KB articles, and the Workflow and LFDS hotfixes via the primary LF11 download.

Trying to package this all together however, running the LF app server or windows client installer from the download, just prompts to do a repair rather than an upgrade/patch, you have to apply these patches/hotfixes via the downloads from the KB articles.

So it seems there is a mish mash of patches here, some you have to apply via the KB article downloads, and others via the main installer/primary download.

Not a great overall experience, and very confusing if I'm honest.

Please can the missing downloads just be added to the KB articles so we can apply the patches to the systems the same way we always have done, rather than this confusing mish mash of hotfixes in different places?

Thanks!

KB1014263 is the one we update every time the Laserfiche 11 download package is updated. The latest Directory Server and Workflow are included. They were released as full updates not patches.

I will simplify KB1012113 and have it just point to KB1014263 for LF11 hotfix info.

Thanks Miruna, so just to clarify. If you're doing a new install, then having all the hotfixes rolled up into the primary installers is great.

What if you're trying to apply all patches to an existing server/system? Can you just run the repair from the primary installer package and that will apply all the updates?

Cheers!

Hi Miruna,

How do I get the individual update patches for LFDS and Workflow?

Cheers!

Thanks Miruna, that's really useful, I did not know about that updates folder!
