This May be Goodbye

posted on March 4, 2022 Show version history

I have been working with Laserfiche products for what seems like my whole life. My father, Craig Smith (United Micro Data, Inc.), started reselling Laserfiche in its early versions as they were transitioning clients from microfilm and microfiche. He would employ his kids to help prep documents for scanning and scan them into the Laserfiche system. I have a lot of memories pulling staples, marking documents as being double-sided, and writing index information at the top of coversheets.

I then worked for my father's company in a Laserfiche support role for clients for about 5 years. I learned a lot about the software itself outside of just scanning and learned how useful it could be. I got to know so many amazing clients as well. I decided to pursue other opportunities and found myself working for a school district where we took Laserfiche from just a document storage application to a fully-fledged process automation product for the district and later won a Run Smarter Award for digitizing their Personnel Action Form process.

For the last 5 years and 9 months I have been working for MCCi and worked my up from a Systems Engineer to a Lead SE and now the SE Manager. I have once again decided it is time for a change in my professional life. I currently am not sure where I am going or what my future job may entail.

With my currently unknown future and not being certain that I will be working with Laserfiche wherever it is that I end up, I wanted to let the Laserfiche community know that I have been thankful for the last 15 years of getting to know you and the conversations that we have shared. I hope that I can work with Laserfiche in the future, but if not, I wish all of you the best. @████████, it shouldn't be long now for you to take the Laserfiche Answers lead away from me and I wish you well.

If anyone wants to reach out to me, you can find me on LinkedIn at https://www.linkedin.com/in/silhouettebs.

UPDATE: I'm still here smiley. I won't be as focused on Laserfiche as I have been in the past, but still glad to be part of the community!

I will miss you!  It has always been encouraging to know you were out there, see your name pop up in Answers, and to run into you at conferences!

I wish you luck and success in the future!  Wherever life takes you, those around you will be blessed!

Take Care Blake!

Christine

Good luck to you.  Maybe we'll be lucky and your future will still include Laserfiche and this community.

Answers will not be the same without you and I can't even count how many times I must have benefited from your posts and contributions.

Even if this is goodbye, you've certainly made a lasting mark on the community and I think it'll be a long while before your name disappears from the top 10.

I wish you all the best!

I'd say there were various cries of "Nooo" in the LF Building, but we're not back in the building yet. There were definitely "Nooo" cries in our Teams channels.

Thanks for all your expertise and help. Definitely stop by and visit if you're in Long Beach.
