Question

Dual Mirrored Servers

asked on July 11, 2017

We are working with a potential customer and they have the following situation:

The customer has several offices throughout the world and they have two datacenters, each geographically advantageous to their user base.  These offices share their documents with each other on a frequent basis.  They are currently using an active/active configuration to sync file shares between the datacenters using a third party application which handles file locks.

The customer is considering Laserfiche RIO and have concerns about latency and user experience if the server and repository are located in only one datacenter.  They would like to know if it is possible to configure multiple Laserfiche servers in an active/active state.  That is to say: if a user, using the desktop client to access an object in the repository via datacenter 1, checks out the object, will a user using the desktop client, attempting  to access the same object in the same repository via datacenter 2, be notified that the item is checked out?  Will the changes made by the user accessing the object via datacenter 1 be “sync’d” to datacenter 2 so that users accessing via datacenter 2 can see the changes.

If this is possible can you please provide documentation and guidance on how to accomplish the task?
