Question

Laserfiche Plus 8.1 - Could not validate license.

asked on January 6, 2017 Show version history

Hello,

I have a client who is trying to use Laserfiche Plus to put some files on a CD and they are getting the error "Could not validate license.  Please contact Laserfiche Support".

The Laserfiche Server is on Rio version 10.1.0 and the Laserfiche Directory server is on version 10.0.0.

We have regenerated license file from the LF Directory server with no luck.  We have tried repairing the software with no luck.  We have also tried uninstalling and reinstalling with no luck.  Anyone have any ideas for a solution to our problem?

Thank you,

Jon.

A case was opened for this and the issue was that the license was invalid because it was not using the correct hardware fingerprint. LF Plus 8.1 uses the legacy hardware fingerprint. In LFDS you must enter in the legacy hardware fingerprint, which can be obtained by running showhwfp.exe on the Plus workstation, when generating the license.

Hi Jon,

I'm going to guess that if the license is invalid there must be a reason behind it. First and foremost, check that the harware fingerprint of the LF Plus machine matches what's in the LF.LICX file along with the mac address. Are there any more meaningful errors in the windows event viewer on the LF Plus machine? That's where I would look first. smiley

Edit:- If you need to see the HWFP of the LF Plus machine, you can copy and run the SHOWHWFP.EXE utility from the LF Server installation directory onto the LF Plus machine.
