Snapshot Email with Attachments?

asked on November 17, 2016

Is it possible to snapshot an Outlook email and have any associated attachments be imported into Laserfiche as well?

Thanks in advance...

Attachments can be imported into Laserfiche by selecting the Laserfiche ribbon and clicking "Save Attachments to Laserfiche".

Another potential solution is to click the "print attached files" under print options and configuring snapshot settings to save the files to a designated repository.

hi, that option works just fine, as long as the user only has a single printer. having to set the user's snapshot printer as her default every time he/she needs this function is a bit of a nuisance and time consuming. i haven't really tried the addin button as i think will just save the only the attachments to laserfiche.

is there a way or is it possible to snapshot a outlook email + the attachments and save it to LF as a single tiff file???

Hello Peter,

Currently, there is no way to save email+attachment combined together as a single tiff file. The closest thing you can do is save the email itself as tiff image using snapshot as you suggested, generate pages when saving the attachment, and kick off workflow to merge the documents.

Hello Peter,

Currently, there is no way to save both the email and attachment together as a single tiff file. However, selecting the "print attached files" option as shown in my previous post should prompt you with two snapshot windows: one for the email itself and another for the attachment. You can save the email as a tiff file by clicking the "Text" tab and selecting the "Perform OCR on the images created for the print job" option. Please refer to the attached image for reference.

Then, what you can do is trigger Workflow upon certain conditions and automatically merge those two tiff files that were saved separately. There are many ways to configure Workflow to perform these tasks but I will stop here as that is a separate topic in itself.

Question: the Outlook Addin button "saving attachments to Laserfiche" - this button just basically saves the attachments only? or does it save the email + attachments?

What about click and drag the email? It save the attachments as well as the email. Saves in Outlook format, but gets the entire thing.
