When forms are captured to the repository, all field text and label names should be included as Searchable Text without having to run the captured form through DCC. Why not use the pristine text with the form as opposed to relying on OCR to interpret the characters, especially as results are less than perfect when shading appearing behind text comes into play. Most customer do not want to capture all fields as metadata but still want to have the ability to find information on the documents at later times and this when greatly simplify that process.

Feature Request - forms submission natively text searchable
Replies
Hi Steve, If you want the content on the captured form natively searchable, you can save the form as pdf when save to repository. PDF content can be natively searchable if you have installed Adobe reader or ifliter( http://www.adobe.com/support/techdocs/327014.html) on the machine that installed Laserfiche Server
Is there a way to set the Forms 'Save to Repository' task to OCR the document when it goes into the repository? OR Is there a way to set OCR on anything incoming on a folder in the repository? (I'm assuming this last would be a Workflow of some kind.)
Hi Michelle
To OCR any document that comes in from forms, you will need to create a Workflow to monitor the destination folder and if it sees a new document 'Created", then the action will be to Schedule OCR (You will need to have the Laserfiche DCC module installed and running on the server for the Scheduled OCR action to work).
Hope this helps
Steve, I figured I would need a Workflow to do this. I believe the DCC is installed and running on the Laserfiche server. I will have to confirm this. Thanks for the feedback! I agree that the functionality of OCR on Send to Repository would be nice!
